Texas gets first crack at the ducks in September, when blue-winged teal pour down the Central Flyway ahead of the regular season. We hunt them over the playa lakes and shallow water they trust — decoys tight, guns ready, birds buzzing the spread in the low morning light.

It’s fast, close shooting in shirtsleeve weather, and one of the best early-season hunts going — an easy add-on before the crane and waterfowl seasons open.

Combination Hunts

Combine any two species in one trip — crane at daylight, ducks at midday, hogs after supper.

Any two species can be combined in a single trip. Most repeat parties come for two days and shoot two or three species. Tell us what you want to shoot and we’ll build the trip around it.
