Our Conformance Goal
We aim for our website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. While we work hard to follow these guidelines, we cannot guarantee that every page or element is fully conformant at all times, and we continue to test and improve. [TO BE COMPLETED: state current conformance status if a formal audit has been done — e.g., “fully conforms,” “partially conforms,” or “an audit is in progress”]
Measures We Take
We have designed and built the Site with accessibility in mind. Specific measures include:
- Semantic HTML structure. We use meaningful headings, landmarks, lists, and page structure so assistive technologies can navigate and announce content correctly.
- Keyboard navigation. The Site is designed to be operated with a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse, including logical tab order through links, buttons, and interactive elements.
- Visible focus indicators. Interactive elements show a clear visual focus state so keyboard users can see where they are on the page.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images include descriptive
alttext, and decorative images are marked so they are skipped by screen readers. - Color contrast. We aim for text and essential interface elements to meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios so content is readable for people with low vision or color vision deficiencies.
- Not relying on color alone. We do not use color as the only way to convey information.
- Responsive, resizable layout. Content reflows for different screen sizes and supports browser zoom and increased text size without loss of content or function.
- Reduced-motion support.We respect the operating-system “reduce motion” preference (
prefers-reduced-motion) and minimize or remove non-essential animation for visitors who request it. - Descriptive links and labels. Links and controls are labeled so their purpose is clear in context.
- Consistent, predictable navigation. Navigation and layout are consistent across pages.
Ongoing Effort
We treat accessibility as a continuous process, not a one-time task. As we update the Site and add content, we review new pages and images for accessibility and correct issues we find. We welcome feedback that helps us do better.
Known Limitations and Third-Party Content
Despite our efforts, some limitations may exist:
- Third-party content and services. Some elements — such as embedded maps, social media feeds, external booking or licensing links, or content hosted by others — may not be fully under our control and may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. We encourage the providers of these services to improve their accessibility.
- Older media. Some older photos or documents may not yet have complete text alternatives. We are working to address these over time.
If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us — your feedback helps us find and fix problems.
